June 18, 2008.  Today's forecast was for a perfect day, so Steve and I called in sick and headed north into the mountains.

Starting with a healthy breakfast at the Waffle House in Canton

A rest area on northbound I-75

The settlement of New Echota.  This is along the 'Trail Of Tears" where our government forced the Indians to walk to Oklahoma.  Thousands died.  There is a museum and replica village but we will do that when we have the women folk along.  Plus, it was $4.00 and Steve wouldn't pay mine so forget it.

A monument to the Cherokee tribe.

Mexican for lunch in Ellijay

Parked down the street.

One last break near Big Canoe - then home.  A 210 mile day.
