November 23, 2008. It was too cold for the women folk but not Steve and me. He wanted to explore a road he had seen a little of a few weeks ago. So we headed north.

Starting of with our nutritious breakfast at Waffle House in
Canton. Temperature 32.

He was pretty sure this road only stayed gravel for a ''few
miles." He was right but it was a long few miles sliding around at 10 mph.

The gravel road barely appeared as a line on the GPS. No
route number or name. We saw one car. I will be washing away dust for
months.

Then back to civilization. Lunch in Blue Ridge at The
Village. All you can eat buffet.

An hour later and we are ready for a nap after that
meal. We stopped at this state park rest area.

The hazy view at Woody Gap.

Woody Gap is 3200 feet. Then home. A 190 mile day
that ended at 54 degrees.
