March 15, 2008. Last night a tornado hit downtown Atlanta. It was the first time in history that that has ever happened. We didn't get any of that storm and didn't even know about it until today. Then today a band of bad storms came thru our area. They lasted pretty much the whole day. It got so dark that the street lights were on. One of the storm bands included hail that was measured on radar as being 4 1/2 inches up at 34,000 feet. When it hit our house it was 1 3/4 inches and tore thru the window screens on the front (wind side) of the house. It also gauged out some wood on some of the windows. Thankfully we have a garage so no damage to the cars.

Most of it had melted by the time I took pictures.

I was trying to show the water gushing down the hill in the
back yard.

I was trying to show the ripped up screen.
